The Focus Group aims to:

• Address issues of concern around risk taking behaviours in the local area of Lurgan
• Provide opportunities for parents/carers to be better informed about risk taking behaviours
• Support and equip parents through a parent’s focus group

Lurgan Catalyst Parent is currently supporting the delivery of parenting programmes through the ENGAGE Project. ENGAGE is a combined youth and parent project aimed at reducing risk taking behaviour in young people. Focusing on relationships and sexual health, the project will equip parents, carers and youth workers to identify risk factors around their young people and give them confidence to talk about sensitive issues. A couple of parent training evenings are being organised for the Lurgan area for early 2009.
