PRESS RELEASE – 28.02.08
Help Protect Your Kids! An Internet safety evening for
parents
Police in the Lurgan area have joined forces with local group
‘Lurgan Catalyst Parent’ in a joint partnership approach to
highlight problems associated with misuse of the Internet and
offer advice.
A local community safety officer will give a presentation
developed by the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre
(CEOP). The ‘Think u know’ initiative is aimed at keeping
teenagers safe while using the internet and educating parents on
some of the dangers of the world wide web!
The event is planned for Thursday 6 March 2008 at 7pm in Lurgan
Library.
Michele Wilkinson from ‘Lurgan Catalyst Parent’ who is hosting
the event feels that it will be a very useful session for
parents with children of all ages.
"I would encourage all parents in the area to come along on this
evening. It covers a wide range of topics from how to use
chatrooms safely to how to report any worrying behaviour”.
