Love for Life recognises the vital role that parents and carers play
in the life and personal development of their children. Effective
parenting, enhanced communication and parental involvement have been
recognised as impacting greatly on the decisions young people make.

Our parenting programmes seek to affirm parents in
the vital contribution they make to the lives and choices of their
children and to empower and equip them with the necessary information
and skills to talk about and support young people in this key area.
The programmes we offer include:
Exposure
This workshop gives parents/carers the opportunity to Explore myths,
Explain facts, Explore pressures and Expand parenting skills. It gives
a general overview of the risk taking behaviours, alcohol and drugs,
with a particular focus on underage sex.
Talk the Talk
A workshop for parents and carers addressing the question ‘How do I
talk to my child about sex?
Talking to your children about Tough Issues
A three session workshop for parents and carers to help them
understand and build protective factors in their families that help to
prevent problems across a range of risky behaviours, including alcohol
and other drug misuse.
The STIng
A workshop for parents/carers wanting to know more about sexually
transmitted infections and how they could affect a young person’s
health and well being.
Parent Talk
Parent Talk consists of three workshops that are designed to follow on
from each other:
- Knowing Their World… this workshop looks at the world young
people are growing up in today and what pressures they deal with.
- It’s Good To Talk… this workshop looks at communication
- Fireguards and Stairgates… this workshop looks at discipline and
boundaries
