Why do we do, what we do?
Why do we exist?
Our Vision is of a future that we want to be part of – we need everyone in society to help create it:
Every young person valuing themselves, relationships and sex in a thriving society.
What do we do?
Love for Life affirms that strong relationships are the basis of a thriving society. Formed in 2002, Love for Life is a Christian charity and has a long-standing reputation for engaging effectively in the specific area of Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE).
Everything we do contributes towards one aim: to inspire the next generation to know their worth, flourish in their relationships and value their sexual choices.
Through holistic Relationship & Sexuality Education (RSE) in schools and the community:
- We encourage and equip young people to understand and value strong, healthy relationships
- We resource families to use the positive influence they have to support their young people as they develop relationships with others
- We challenge culture to prioritise strong, healthy relationships
~We create space for honest conversations about authentic relationships.
When it comes to sexuality, children and young people hear many voices telling them who they are, who they should be, and how they should behave. This is particularly true as a result of the influence of media and the increased amount of time lived online and through social media. This can lead to confusion, misinformation and false expectations around sexual choices and behaviour.
Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) has been a statutory component of the NI curriculum since 2001. It is recognised that young people need access to reliable, accurate and relevant information, as well as the opportunity to develop the skills and values to build healthy and respectful relationships. It is a subject area that teachers particularly appreciate support in delivering. It is also an area that more and more community youth groups are addressing.
Love for Life affirms that strong relationships are the basis of a thriving society. Formed in 2002, Love for Life is a Christian charity and has a long-standing reputation for engaging effectively with parents, children and young people in the specific area of Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE). The organisation works regionally across all school types, in many different community settings and in higher education institutions. Love for Life activities aim to inspire, equip and resource the next generation to know their worth, flourish in their relationships and value their sexual choices.
We are committed to partnering with schools and communities as we continue to keep personal development and relationships at the heart of RSE. Our supporters stand with us, presenting a possible, purposeful and life-giving vision for young people’s character and relational choices, building towards a thriving society.
